Dance Like A Star…Make That 5 Stars!
Ratings and reviews have unveiled a unique opportunity for business looking to increase retention and enhance engagement through rich customer insight. Although reviews drive sales and traffic are important, establishing an organization’s identity and relationship with their consumers is paramount.
Did you know that 90% of consumers say buying decisions are influenced by online reviews?
With better access to data and limited attention spans, customers expect to be able to make more informed decisions with a flawless experience.
Digital marketing pro Adam Fridman says in Inc Magazine “Even if the other people are strangers they’ve never met, they will take their advice over anything they read from a company’s website.”
Before the advent of the Internet, we simply relied on word of mouth to find a reliable hotel stay or babysitter. Nowadays every experience is ‘Googled’ or ‘Yelped’ and very much linked to trust and loyalty. It is crazy to think that a single review has the power or break a reputation.
The night before my first Bollygroove class, after looking at pricing and schedules, I headed straight for the Reviews section only to feel reassured. Recurring themes like ‘fun moves’, ‘energetic instructors’, ‘spreading joy’ ‘great workout’ , ‘accessible to everyone’ resonated within all the reviews I clicked through.

Ultimately, mapping the customer journey from discovery to delight or discovery to disdain is shaped by ratings and reviews. Whether you are a business or a consumer in today’s world, a star can make all the difference!

RAPID FIRE ROUND
What is your philosophy in life?
“Dance first. Think later. It’s the natural order.”-Samuel Beckett
What is #1 on your bucket list?
Travelling to Tiruvannamali, India.
If you didn’t live in Chicago, where would we find you?
Scottish countryside maybe—any place that looks like The Shire.
When you are not in the dance studio, you are…
Seeing patients, thinking about life, wondering how to contribute to our planetary healing. Or just piddling around the house—crafting, repotting a plant, watching Ancient Aliens or Mr Robot with my husband.
What are 3 words that people use to describe your teaching style?
I have no idea! I hope fun, energetic, supportive.
Tell us about your introduction to and love story with BollyGroove?
Romita and I fell in love with Ajanta at the all-ladies dance party Romi threw for me before my wedding. We learned a dance and then performed it at the wedding. Then we began taking the cardio class. Ajanta pulled us aside after class one day—we thought we were in ‘trouble’ for being late—and she asked us to teach. We were crushing on her so much that we said yes to teaching before really knowing what it entailed. Thank goodness Ajanta didn’t know we had no dance training to speak of. I am still trying not to feel like an imposter, but it has been such a treat to be welcomed into bG and have a chance to be a dancer—my inner 6 year old (who watched “Fame” like it was a religious service) is so pleased.
What are your favorite BollyGroove songs to dance to?
I still like some oldies—Psycho Re and Dhoom. The new ones I’m liking are Chittayan and Hey Rama Rama.

How Medha Got Her BollyGroove Back
In school, my parents always encouraged me to participate in various extracurricular activities ranging from sports leagues to piano lessons. When I was younger, I didn’t always appreciate having every evening being consumed by an activity. In retrospect, I feel like it made me a well rounded person with a sense of purpose and social skills. But as an adult, all activities were replaced with a 9 to 5 desk job, takeout food and binge watching. As a result, ‘well rounded’ had taken on a different meaning:( It was time for a change..
I still remember that fateful day at my first Bollywood Groove class two years ago. I looked around the packed room to find people of all ages, races, shapes and sizes. They were on a mission and had made a beeline for the room to find their favorite spots before the previous class had even ended. Within 5 minutes, I was sweating profusely but still somehow smiling. I felt like I was having the best kind of heart attack possible. Ajanta, our instructor, pumped up the room with her infectious energy and gentle banter. A few songs in and suddenly we were breaking as half the class was over. By now, at the gym, I would have been on the dreaded elliptical machine and already indulged in an evil stare down with the clock.
Little did I know that that day I would discover my passion for dance and have energetic evenings to look forward to. Mondays and Wednesdays soon became days where I scheduled time to see my equally hooked friends who had joined. Did I mention that my pants weren’t as snug?
This week, Bollywood Groove has been hosting free classes at its numerous studios. With half the week left, spots are going fast for the remaining classes. Whether you are Bollycurious or Bollyserious, I strongly encourage you to enjoy an amazing experience with fun moves, seriously catchy Indian dance music, and uplifting instructors.
